Curating a Hermès Collection in the Best Shades of Pink

As an avid pink Hermès bag collector, my goal is to share the most popular current pink bags adored by most, and to compare some of the similar shades. It is not meant to be an exhaustive article of every pink Hermès has produced.

Hermès is a brand synonymous with luxury, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance due in part to the spectrum of vibrant colors that captivate handbag collectors. Although most Hermès collections tend to be varied in size, style, leather, and color, many collectors favor mostly neutral colors. Entire collections may be built around colors such as Noir, Gold, Craie, Etain, and Etoupe. . . or, when not offered the specific shade, one of cornucopia of similar tints.

Consider the many variations on the über popular Hermès color Gold: Chai, Trench, Beige Marfa, Sesame, Caramel, Biscuit, Kraft, Quebracho, Natural, and Fauve. How about the shades similar to the coveted color Craie: Nata, Beton, Mushroom, Gris Pale, Gris Tourterelle, Blanc, New White? Likewise, think of the hues in the genre of Etoupe and Etain like Gris Perle, Gris Mouette, Gris Asphalt, Gris Meyer, Gris Misty, and Graphite.

No one would blink if an entire handbag collection was built on one or more of these neutral colors. But what about an entire collection built on one pop of color with an emphasis on one particular shade? That might attract attention.

Pink is the one pop of color that holds its value more than any other non-neutral shade. True pink enthusiasts are willing to wait years for the exact shade they desire in their next Hermès bag. Pink, created by adding white to red, doesn’t appear on the traditional color wheel. Rosy pinks sit between purple and red, while peachy pinks lie between red and orange.

The Magic of Pink in Fashion

In fashion, pink is often associated with femininity, romance, and elegance. It has a timeless appeal in the fashion world. Its versatility spans a wide spectrum of shades, from soft pastels to vibrant fuchsias, making it a favorite among handbag collectors.

Pink is more than just a color. It can be a reflection of one’s personality and style. Playful, sophisticated, bold, or understated, pink is a versatile handbag shade, adding a pop of color to a neutral outfit, making a fashion statement, or evoking a sense of whimsy and charm. Hermès, with its extensive palette of pinks, provides endless possibilities for collectors to express their individuality.

A monochrome outfit in a lighter or slightly darker shade of pink pairs well with a pink handbag. Similarly, an all black, all white, or other neutral color also allows the pink shade to pop against the single color. This creates a striking visual effect and highlights the color’s beauty. Many believe that pink is only a spring or summer shade. However, paired with cozy knits and tailored coats in complementary neutral shades adds a romantic and feminine touch to any outfit, day or night.
