The news of Rose Darling as a color addition has had the PurseBop team in a tizzy. Sure, we knew it was coming, and had examined and reexamined the pictures showing up on Asian media platforms. But none of them conveyed the true color.
Dedicated to finding a clear answer, and in pursuit of accuracy, I was on a mission. A very dear family member was traveling to Hong Kong mid August. When asked what I would like as a souvenir from their trip, I had only one thing on my mind.
Rose Darling.
A precious little Calvi in Rose Darling would be my ask, of course. Desperately needed in the spirit of research to report the truth about the true hue of this new rosy pink.
After several failed attempts along the way including Doha airport’s multiple Qatar lounges and boutiques, I excitedly awoke to this message one morning:
SECURED, REALLY? ARE YOU SURE IT’S ACTUALLY ROSE DARLING???
Apparently, the inventory showed one, but it was not in the store, but rather in some back warehouse. It had to be retrieved, which could take up to 30 minutes. This was at the Hermes elements store on the Kowloon side in Hong Kong in case anyone is interested.
Fast-forward, I received my Calvi this weekend and couldn’t wait to share the true color as well as comparisons to the other pinks that I own.
It’s stunning, much softer than the coveted Rose Sakura. It’s like a vanilla milkshake with just a hint of strawberries thrown in. It’s very clean, crisp —there is no yellow or warmth in the hue, it’s delicious.
I love it. In my opinion prettier than Mauve Pale although I didn’t have anything in that shade to compare to. I did forget to pull out my 5P Birkin 25 for this photo shoot, so that will be reserved for another day. And I confess the photos are not capturing that ‘strawberry flavor’ accurately. It’s really difficult to appreciate its true beauty from my photos here. I share a reel over on IG @pursebop that might be better.
Rose Darling compared to Rose Sakura, both in chèvre in the sun versus natural light.
