Everyone knows about Cartier’s Love and Juste Un Clou collections, but are you familiar with the Clash de Cartier line? First introduced in 2019, the Clash de Cartier collection represents new dualities and paradoxes.
The pieces cultivate contrast and amplify the power and confidence of the woman who wears them. With punk subculture inspiration, the collection features studs, beads, and spikes that ‘clash’ to form unique, rebellious pieces. Instantly recognizable as Cartier yet somehow unknown, Clash de Cartier is daring, iconic, and embraces modernity with all its complexities and contradictions.
Cartier recently added five pieces to the Clash collection: two bracelets, two necklaces, and a single earring. While the core pieces of the collection are primarily pure gold, two lean further into the punk inspiration of the line by mixing metals with diamonds and various materials.
The Clash de Cartier Single Earring XL model retails for $15,600 and is made with 18k rose gold and chrysoprase, which is a rare variation of the chalcedony quartz gemstone. You may be familiar with chalcedony from Van Cleef and Arpels, and it’s one of the gemstones that ranks higher on the Mohs hardness scale.
The Clash de Cartier necklace in the flexible small model is made with 18k rose gold, set with 456 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.64 carats, and retails for $37,700. As each diamond is surrounded by spikes, this creates an interesting balancing act and a clash of attitudes – the delicate, pure nature of the diamond against the bold, eccentric nature of the spikes.
Cartier’s Long Clash de Cartier necklace in the small flexible models comes in both 18k rose gold and white gold. These are priced at $38,900 and $41,600, respectively. Worn at its full length, this piece makes a statement. However, for a bolder look, looping it around your neck twice doubles the effect and illusion of volume.
Last, but not least, is the Clash de Cartier bracelet in the XL model made with 18k rose gold and chrysoprase. This bracelet features oversized chrysoprase beads with gold in each center and surrounded by golden spikes throughout. It’s an amazing mix of metals and stones and retails for $65,500.
