Sunday evening was a big night at Cannes! Halfway through the legendary film festival, British supermodel Naomi Campbell hosted Fashion for Relief, a thoroughly star-studded charity event.
Campbell drew on her extensive A-list contacts to curate an exclusive Cannes fashion show (which took place in a hanger at a private airport in the French Riviera resort town!). Guests included royals Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan and Princess Beatrice of the U.K., as well as actors like Uma Thurman and Antonio Banderas. As for the catwalk? Top models current and past took to the runway: Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Jourdan Dunn, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner, among others.
Top designers donated the runway clothes, and a gala dinner and silent auction followed the show. The auction included various works of art, older photographs of models, and jewelry by the likes of Lorraine Schwarz, Chopard, and Bulgari. Lauryn Hill provided entertainment for the evening.
The event served as a fundraiser for relief for displaced children. Earlier this year, Campbell visited a refugee camp in Jordan with Save the Children, an international NGO that works for children’s rights and supports children in developing countries. The experience had a profound impact on her. “It was a great experience,” she told Sky News. “It was a humbling experience because these people are not wallowing in self pity.” Proceeds from Fashion for Relief will go to the organization.
