We just witnessed the most expensive Birkin ever sold moments ago at the Christie’s live auction in Hong Kong. Dare we say this is the ultimate Holy Grail Bag in the world? (Read: What’s Your Holy Grail Bag?)
An exceptional, matte white Himalaya niloticus crocodile Diamond Birkin 30 with 18k white gold & diamond hardware just sold for 2,400,000 Hong Kong dollars plus the buyers premium, totaling *$379,261, making it the most expensive handbag ever sold at auction! The previous record of $300,168 was set last year in Hong Kong for a nearly identical Birkin.
* Hammer Price ($308,152 US dollars) + Buyers Premium = $379,261 , the total sale for this bag achieved $379,261.
In our article on Christies.com, we describe this prized Birkin as
“the ultimate HGB for the most discerning collector — only a handful of meticulously-crafted Himalayan Birkins have ever been encrusted with diamonds.”
Last year’s Himalayan Birkin and this year’s treasure look nearly identical, but we are told there are subtle differences in the gold and rarity of diamonds used in the hardware. Hermès doesn’t ever reveal the number of these diamond-encrusted pieces produced.

W????W–it HAS to be nice to afford that…
oh my GOD!!!! how many Boys, classic flaps, Coco Handles, clic clacs and Gucci Princetown mules can be bought with that amount? hahaha what an incredible piece…but I´d be to scared to ever use it… it would probably never come out of the vault.
It’s a beautiful bag but in my eyes no bag can be worth that much, regardless..At one point to much is to much, you can’t even use it, so if it’s only to show off its not interesting ????
