History & Features
Debuted in the French maison’s Fall 2015 collection, the Trotteur is a modern take on the traditional saddle bag that has since become a blogger and consumer favorite.
Externally, the Trotteur resembles slightly the Céline Box Bag (full reference guide here): it’s structured, minimalist, can be worn crossbody, and has prominent hardware. In fact, the most notable feature of the Trotteur is the hardware on its flap closure, which slides into a chevron leather holder. (Fun fact: the bag looks just as good with its flap untucked!)
The Trotteur has an adjustable leather strap and can be worn crossbody or on the shoulder. It opens to an inner zipped pocket and four credit card slots, and it has a flat external pocket on the back. Overall, the Trotteur is simple, unfussy, and elegant: the embodiment of Céline style.
The Trotteur comes in 3 sizes: small (28.5 x 18 x 5.5 cm), compact (23 x 22.5 x 6 cm), and medium (25 x 27 x 10 cm). Both small and compact can transition easily from day to night. The most popular—and least expensive—leather is grained calfskin, but the bag comes in a variety of leathers including natural calfskin, shiny calfskin, snakeskin, and crocodile.
