Gucci Spring 2018 Bag Teaser

By now, everybody knows that Gucci is one of the most successful luxury brands in the world. (Let’s not forget that it was just ranked the hottest brand of Q2!) Alessandro Michele’s sharp sense of style and business savvy have completely renewed the brand in the eye of the public. (Read: Gucci: The Most Improved Player of the Year?) With this revamp, new bag designs have captured our hearts. Dionysus or Marmont, anyone?

Since Gucci is at the top of its game, we all anxiously await the brand’s next move. Well, it’s come. Gucci just had its Spring 2018 show, and the Italian house did not hold back. With ’80s glam, video game references, tweeds, and general retro style, the show was a blast from the past with a modern twist. Michele’s press release said it all: “Resist the mantra of speed that violently leads to loosing [sic] oneself. Resist the illusion of something new at any cost.” As he later elaborated, “To feel the contemporary, I need to know that something was there before. I want to touch it.”

Gucci is a thoroughly modern brand that thrives on tech and the fast pace of today’s global world, but it continues to take inspiration from the past. Read on to take a look at how this philosophy found its way into the bags from the collection!

Fanny Pack Attack

What could be more retro than fanny packs? Fanny packs, which became popular in the ’80s and ’90s, abounded at the show. They’re have a serious moment right now (read: Celebrity Style: Luxury Fanny Packs?), and Gucci’s staying on top of the semi-controversial trend!

Suede Galore

In tune with the vintage vibe of the whole collection, Gucci took us back in time a few decades with a heavy influx of suede! The luxe material has never really gone out of style, but on these bags it does have a distinctive retro vibe.

Subtle GG Branding on Classic Silhouettes

Here, Gucci toned it down a bit. These looks include small, elegant GG logos on beautifully classic bags. (Not quite what Gucci is known for, but we have to say we’re fans!)

"Guccy" and Playful Designs

This is where Gucci went full-out futuristic. But it seems more like an ’80s vision of the future than today’s. Think video game lettering, pop designs, and unlikely silhouettes—and don’t forget the infamous “Guccy,” Michele’s way of gently mocking counterfeit culture.

Classic Canvas

Gucci may be an exciting, game-changing brand, but it’s doesn’t stray too far from its routes. What would a Gucci show be without the classic, instantly recognizable monogram canvas…?

Gucci has found the pathway to major success and I don’t think they’re ready to slow down on this track ???????? I’ve always loved Gucci but right now, oh Boy, I want everything they launch ???? still dreaming of a Princetown slipper and a Marmont bag ???????????? Oh, and those sneakers ????… haven’t really had the chance to look closely at the new collection, but considering what you posted, they are still rocking it ????????????????????????????????????????❤️❤️????????
