Everybody gets at least a little excited about Hermès prices. How much, exactly, are the most coveted bags in the world? It’s a thrilling question—even those outside of the fashion world want to know. But whenever there’s hype around Hermès prices, the Birkin and Kelly tend to get all of the attention. Why oh why do we neglect the dear Constance?
Given its exclusive nature, we fully believe the Constance belongs right up there with the Birkin and Kelly. (Indeed, we’ve named them the B/K/C trifecta in the past!) After the Hermès price hike earlier this year (read: Alert: Hermès Price Hike Coming), we gave you the full rundown of Birkin prices and Kelly prices. So it’s about time we did the Constance justice. Here, we’ve done the “handbag math” for you, with the full comparison of U.S. ($) vs European (€) pricing.
The Prices
Region | Constance 18 (Epsom) | Constance 24 (Epsom) |
USA | $7,800 | $10,300 |
Continental Europe | €5,400 | €7,150 |
USD Equivalent ($) | $5,940 | $7,865 |
Savings ($) | $1,860 | $2,435 |
€1.00 EUR = ~$1.10 USD
Exchange rates refer to November 23rd, 2019. Given the changing nature of currency, values are subject to change. All prices are for epsom leather as individual leathers vary in price.

The Analysis
Even though it’s one of the three ultra-exclusive Hermès bags, the Constance is less expensive than the Birkin or Kelly. (Yes, it’s still something like their little sister.) While the Constance is either $7,800 or $10,300, Birkins range from $9,850 to $12,100, and Kellys from $9,350 to $11,000. We’re not talking major price differences: just ones to notice.
Like the Birkin and Kelly, it’s clear that the Constance has remained less expensive in Europe than in the U.S. It’s good news for American consumers abroad, though we have to keep our fingers crossed it’ll last, since we never know when serious global price harmonization will strike! And these savings are not negligible: the Constance 18 is 23.84% less expensive in euros than in dollars, while the Constance 24 is 23.64% less expensive. (It’s worth noting that currently the Euro is weaker than normal against the dollar.)
Yet we can’t take these savings at face value. As you probably know by this point, shopping abroad has its own “money language,” so to speak: you always have to take into account the VAT refund and Custom Duties, which changes your total cost—not usually significantly, but it depends on the country. It’s best to know the details before you leave on your trip! (For more information, read our guides on navigating these issues: Travel Guide: The Do’s and Don’ts and How It Works – VAT Refund and Custom Duties)
Someday—perhaps—brands like Hermès will ensure that prices are essentially the same worldwide. But for now, we get to have some fun figuring out handbag math and the best places to “score” H bags before that occurs. Are you going to be purchasing a Constance anytime soon? Let us know below!
