Breaking News: Global Chanel Price Increase 2023
Set in the Grand Palais Éphémère, the backdrop of a giant white camellia flower set the theme… at least for many of Chanel’s bags of Fall-Winter 2023/24. Colorwise the collection was primarily (but not exclusively) black and white, with accents of light pink, as well as some deeper reds, pinks, and purples.
As described by Chanel,
“The collection is afloat with an asymmetrical silhouette in movement, a feminine-masculine spirit traversed by camellia motifs, an eternal code of CHANEL.”

So, let’s refresh on the camellia. More than just a flower, it is a classic and iconic theme of Chanel fashion dating back to the days of Coco herself. Lore has it that the brand founder first adorned herself with silk pin versions of the flower, before adopting it for decor and her own couture designs.

In this handbag collection, the camellia takes shape as a handbag, as it has done occasionally over the decades. Here we see it in white, black, and pink, a zip-top style with the iconic leather laced chain.

And then there are the camellia closures on other flap bags. Resembling a leather camellia pin affixed to the bag, again, this is not an entirely new concept. The bags though appear slightly boxier than a classic flap.

For your evenings out, you’ll find a camellia minaudière as well. One resembles the flower; another is a ball with camellia designs. In black and white, of course.

Most of the bags included long leather laced chains – both gold and silver – carried on the shoulder, and in black, sizes varying from tiny to medium.

Catching our attention was something that appears new. A boxier two-handle ladylike style veered from the camellia theme. Like most of the other handbags, it included a chain strap.
