I attended the private sale today and it was my first H sale! After reading about past sales in NY and Paris, we decided to show up early, arriving shortly after 8 and were the first people in line! We were instructed to queue up on the side of the building under the scaffolding rather than on Randolph. About 10-15 people started to show up shortly after but majority of the people didn’t arrived until after 11. They let about 60 people in for the first round and that was not at all crowded once you are inside. There were good stock of silk scarves and cashmere shawls (where I spent most of my time). Most were from 2014-2015 seasons, I believe. 2 cashmere shawls are allowed per person but no limit for other silks if I’m not mistaken. Pretty good selections of clic clac, shoes, and boots in all sizes, mens and womens, including jumping boots. Silks, shoes, accessories were 50% off and RTW 60%. Unfortunately, no leather goods, ties, or housewares. Overall, a very good experience.

Hello friends,
I made it home at midnight Tuesday night from NYC to make it to the sale today (Wednesday the 18th) for the private day of the Chicago Hermès sale. I will share a brief account of my experience and scores. The sale started at 1pm today. My girlfriends and I reached at approximately 11. It was a SALE reunion as it was the same group that came with me to Paris in January 2016 where we attended the Paris SALE that we covered extensively for you. See articles highlighted above. Read: Hermès On Sale?

At 11 am we were fairly close to the front of the line. Having each other for company made the time fly by. Please keep in mind this was the private day so I cannot anticipate the crowd tomorrow once the sale opens to the public.
It was very calm and systematic. Shortly after 1pm the doors opened and the first group entered slowly. The reception requested our ID’s to verify that we had been granted a VIP pass for the private day. We were given the same clear large plastic bag as we had been given in Paris to place all the items we wanted to purchase. We did not wear any Hermès items to the sale as advised by our home store sales associates. We all carried cross body bags for hands free shopping.

Once we entered the space we were free to visit any of the areas inside and no time limit was specified to us unlike in Paris where your time was monitored (if you haven’t read our Paris SALE stories yet, I highly urge you to now— Read: Hermès Sale Goodies

Again I cannot confirm the same timing tules will hold true for the public days starting tomorrow.

The jewelry and accessories section had a seperate queue inside. I waited approximately 10 minutes. There was a limit to purchase a total of 7 jewelry/accessory items including a max of two H clics per person. All jewlery was 50% off. There was a nice selection of clic clacs, H clics, enamel bracelets, and some leather too (but no CDC’s though). Both gold and palladium hardware were available in both sizes of bracelets. Many clic clacs were with the white hardware. There were a limited number of colors but very wearable choices like red’s and blues and a variety of pastels.

Lot’s of RTW for both men and women with ample fitting rooms at a 60% reduction.

There were limited designs of silk scarves and cashmere shawls for sale. If I remember correctly, with a limit of 2 each. This seemed to be the HOT spot at the sale, but somehow I was just not interested so I dot have more details to report. Everything here was 50% off too.

No bags of any kind, no leather goods and sadly no housewares available at this sale.

I found the space layout to be inviting and easy to peruse. Today it was not crowded and the selling staff was all very pleasant and helpful. It was nice to see a few familiar Chicago store faces but I understand that was for the private day only.

Few tips:
-wear comfy shoes
-carry a cross body
-if you are trying shoes- DON’T WEAR BOOTS (like I did – as difficult to take on and off while standing)
-don’t wear Hermès items
-if it’s sunny, take an umbrella for shade. It was really HOT waiting in line in the sun.

I’ll update my haul tomorrow and hopefully so will my shopping mates. I hope this helps. Ask any questions and I’ll do my best to reply.
We welcome anyone to share their experiences here please, especially from the public days.

Happy shopping everyone ?
Love PurseBop

Thank you for such a candid review! I’m in the same boat: not sure if I hate this bag and think it’s ugly, or will think it’s brilliant and should buy it…

VCA INCREASES PRICES – USA

Price Increase as of Sept 28th, 2017: Van Clef & Arpels has increased it’s prices across the board approximately 6% – 8%. Individual cases do vary. It would appear VCA has absorbed any decrease taken earlier this year. Since VCA is very particular with globalization of prices throughout the world we can anticipate the increases to follow in other countries. The UK has reported an increase. Canada has taken a slight increase with some items actually decreasing.
Some Examples here in the USA to give you an idea. We will update you as more specific information becomes available.

Alhambra:
Yellow Gold MOP 10 $7150 to $7160 resulting in a $500 increase/7% increase
Yellow Gold Onyx 5 $3650 to $3900 resulting in a $250 increase/6.8% increase
Carnelian 10 $7900 to $8500 resulting in a $600 increase/7.6 % increase
Carnelian 5 $3950 to $4300 resulting in a $350 increase/8.7% increase
Carnelian Magic Pendant $5600 to $6250 resulting in a $650 increase/11.6 % increase

Dear Everyone,
I went to Paris last 2 weeks ago and got really excited for this new system.
I arrived in Paris on sunday and wanted to go there on Monday. That’s why i made an online appointment on Saturday and unfortunately i didn’t make it for Monday. I was sooo disappointed. But on Monday i tried again for Tuesday and i received a text on Monday at 7:10 PM Paris time and my appointment was at 10:30 AM. I was soo happy.
I requested for a Kelly 25/28 but they said there’s no kelly or birkin or constance at that time. They offered me a 31 Gold Bolide Clemence Leather and i brought the baby back home.
Love,
Linn.

I’m also interested to know. I’ll be in London in the first week of January and could take the train for an overnight stay in Paris.

Any update on location and opening hours? I think it might be time to do a mini-vacation in Chicago ?

I was browsing on Instagram when I found this company who creates transparant stickers to put on your Hermès bag’s hardware in order to prevent scratches…
Does any of you use these kind of protective stickers?
I have read somewhere online that some Hermès fans do not use them because they fear moisture gets trapped underneath and that oxidation might occur…

Here are some pictures of one of my biggest fears leatherwise.
This is a close-up of the sticky leather of my CDC-bracelet. It just happened one summer, I have no idea if something got spilled on it while wearing it (don’t think so, honestly) or was it just because it was a bit warmer or is it due to the humidity? It happened to my anemone Kelly bracelet too and I had to hand the bracelet in at the store for 3 months so they could ship it to the SPA. The fee to fix it was very high but the Store Manager said he was not letting me pay for it (as he wanted to be customer friendly…)
I still need to bring this black CDC bracelet in for repair…

HI! Can you tell me which items typically go on sale…? scarves, bracelets, etc? Thank you

First and foremost, congrats on your Kelly! Secondly storing one’s H bags depends on their use. Infrequently used bags rest in their sleeper bag. Frequently used bags are just left out in the open. I’ve never had nor seen leather sweat before (thank goodness) but sticky leather doesn’t sound good. Neither does cracking – which I suspect is the result of dry leather. Hope this helps and welcome to the H club!

In reply to: Best black bag?

To me, a black Epsom Kelly 25 with gold hardware: it goes from day to night seamlessly, it elevates any outfit you wear it with, Epsom doesn’t need babying (so you can wear it often and not worry about it), it’s more practical than the Birkin because of the shoulder strap (which can be removed or swaped for fun Fendi ones), the 25 is big enough to carry what I need daily and not too big to wear at night or some dressy occasions (although I find smooth leathers like Box Calf or exotics better for very dressy occasions).

Patent monogram is to flashy for me, it looks fine on some ladies, not all of them though, specially if the Alma is big and red bright patent leather ? Way to flashy. I own a black Alma in Epi for years and love it ?

So I just learned something today, even though I grew up watching French movies in their original language, I never heard that Jeanne Moreau was Coco Chanel muse…..when I grew up my Icon was Catherine Deneuve, her beauty was unparalleled (for me). I honestly don’t like her performance as an actress because she is to “monotone ” in her tone of voice, to cold, with no passion, but something about her always draws me to her… and of course she was YSL muse and was carrying it very well…I feel privileged to have been part of the most phenomenal time for French movies ….the list of French actors and actresses is endless…. now I barely look at movies ?Great article as usual.. Thank you ?✨?

What we scored:
2 shoes for myself: land boots & mambo platforms
3 for my hubby
RTW for both of us including ties for him. I bought two black dresses and a black top.
Argent CDC belt for myself .
I did not buy scarves this time and although tons of home goods I skipped them.

This time there was a que to look at women’s shoes and a time limit of 10 minutes. No line or time limit for mens shoes.
More RTW than I remember from last time and no jewelry at all. The jewelry area was used for belts this time. There were lots of CDC belts in different colors but no black. Lots of mens belts, some reversible but no belt kits. Several croc CDC belts. There was no time limit to look at belts.

Just received an extensive update from dear friend Chi town Chanel that attended the Paris Hèrmes sale earlier today. She texted me photographs and explained that it was quite similar to the sale we attended together in Jan 2016.

We shared our full experience in detail here:

Hermès On Sale? https://www.pursebop.com/hermes-on-sale/
The Hermès Sale Goodies https://www.pursebop.com/the-hermes-sale-goodies/

Today Chi town Chanel shares her experience as follows: I quote her directly…

It’s a rainy day here in Paris. We reached Le Palais de Congress and were in line at about 8:00 am this am. This is Day 2 of the sale. I would estimate about 200 people in front of us and 50 or more behind us.

The procedure was only slightly different from my last visit (read: Hermès On Sale? https://www.pursebop.com/hermes-on-sale/). This time they started to let us through security and fill out slip well before 9 am and then formed a second line inside of sale hallway.
