This is almost too terrible to post, but no one but Pursebops will understand!
In June, I bought my first Hermès bag-a Birkin 35-in Paris. I lugged it home to the US VIA two stormy days in Iceland, but while the bag was damp, the box and the bag made it back intact.
A few weeks later, I went to have my hair colored and cut. Yes, I took my bag. My hairstylist was eager to hear about my trip and see some of my purchases. (You all know what’s coming, right?) I hung the bag on the customary purse hook and she began…
So, she was coloring and we were chatting and suddenly I saw…a mark on my Birkin. I tried to be chill although I was having a heart attack but she saw me notice it and started to panic herself. She tried to wipe it with the hair color remover but I stopped her– really I couldn’t think but was so concerned the remover would do more harm than good. She apologized and cried and honestly, I couldn’t say anything but “I can’t talk about this right now!,” I was a wreck. (My hair and color was without charge that day but of course there was no way she could financially fix the situation; as well, she’s my friend.)
Well, I went home and sobbed to my husband. But we tend to get our perspective back quickly and have now named my bag “Dita” since it has a beauty mark (It looks like a small pen mark, but naturally it’s on the front!). Do I wish it were pristine? Um, yes. But it’s still beautiful and hardly noticible and as I don’t plan to resell it, I intend to simply enjoy owning and using Dita.
Still, does anyone have any guess as to whether Hermès could remedy this? I live closest to the Chicago store, but I am wary of them…I am thinking to wait until I next go to Paris ( whenever that will be) and ask the experts, but if you have any advice, I’d love to hear!

Hi PurseBop,
Do you have the list of the 13 locations that have the DIY service in the U.S.? Thanks!

Thankfully I haven’t had major accidents with my babies, except once while taking photos of my blue lambskin Chanel by the pool and the bottom touched the water?. No major damage done. The BiG Disaster happened to my cousin, she just sat down for dinner at a restaurant to order. The waiter handed her a menu and by the time she ordered, she found a huge ink stain on her red Chanel Boy ???. The waiter’s pen was leaking and no one noticed it.. the bag is now in Chanel in London, hopefully they can manage to salvage it.

My name is Ashley and I am guilty of babying my bags.
I own an all leather Gucci “Jackie” bag and its my first which I still love even to this day. I worked OVERTIME and I did double shifts to earn my Jackie bag, and I always go back to her.
My ex threw my Gucci bag in the SNOW, along with it landing in the nasty snow, my compact blew up in my bag and I went ballistic on him. I grabbed his Louis Vuitton wallet (which I bought him) and I threw it in the snow NEAR the sewer… told him, “You did not like that did you…” and best believe someone was on my “blocked” list within 24 hours. I don’t take kindly to such abuse, especially when the item is 100% soft leather which damages in water/acid.

Hi everyone, my name is Anita and I don’t post too much here, I mostly read and view the the bag porn! I work really really hard on protecting my bags so I don’t have too much to deal with but the two worst things off the top of my head were first with my vintage Hermes Kelly bag, a gift from my grandma, one of the last gifts she got me before she died. I had a boyfriend who just does NOT understand anything about fashion or why I love it so much. Well one day, I was cooking and the house was very hot so I asked him to open the door, a while later I walked into the room he was in and saw that he had used my Kelly as a door stop to keep it open. My beautiful bag got a bit of a scratch it from the door but not too bad over all. I freaked out on him and he just rolled his eyes at me. I told him that him using my bag as a door stop would be the same as if I were to take his beloved guitar and (excuse me for being crass with this part) take a crap in the guitar hole and set it on fire.
The second bad incident with a bag, my mom got me a large LV tote as a push present to use for my baby’s dipar bag. It holds a lot and is wonderful but my nephew stepped on it and I panicked. On the outside it was fine and I thought nothing of it until later on I discovered he busted the baby cream into the bag and it does not come out. The cream stain is still there! My heart broke over the problem but I still use the bag.

Reporting in that only a k25 sellier nests nicely in a B30. K28 retourne and sellier need not apply! ?

Hello!! @theglobemix here! Thought I would share my size comparison here as well. I hope this can help you and others alike!! ??
I once did see a lovely french girl nest her birkins together then one little Kelly peeking out. While she was carrying another Kelly on her shoulders.

Planning my travel. Took these shots as I make my handbag selections. The Birkin offers endless options for nesting. Here my Bubble Gum Pink B25 nesting very comfortably in my Gris Mouette B30.

I was shown this yesterday by a newish saleslady at Hermes in the Wonder Room at Selfridges. I could not fit my reading glasses in the SOFTsided case in this handbag so beware! And also was not very impressed. Nor am I impressed by how often there are complete changes in sales staff these days in many of Hermes boutiques in Europe! And at the very least could someone please make sure that the sales staff have good training before you release them onto the selling floor to MISINFORM potential clients!
Yes, I am a long time client, as were mom and grandmother, but this is getting irksome and RIDICULOUS! This is a HERITAGE brand with long tradition. It is intolerable that I knew the Verrou style had come out previously as a clutch. Ridiculous and unacceptable that she cannot tell the colour ‘aubergine’ from ‘aenome’ and insists that some pastel ‘violene’ is aubergine! I did NOT even by a scarf yesterday! I just walked out and went to the food hall for some caviar and vodka!!
And yes, the sales staff at mothership at FSH and even rue de Sevres Rive Gauche are almost as ignorant. The ones at Bond Street are simply arrogant—anyone who has read any of my earlier posts knows I never go into that boutique anymore. If I want a lousey, unpersonalized experience, I can shop on the official Hermes website!
Sorry for the rant! But do be sure you try to put your basics in this bag before you splurge—I would not put my mobile phone in any back flap so it goes inside my bag, plus eyeglasses, lipstick, compact, wallet, keys and whatever you personally cannot live without. I just cannot go below a Birkin 25. Is it only me?
Hope you enjoyed the Hermes sale in Paris more than I enjoyed the new price increased goods at Hermes in London!

Hi! I replied on instagram earlier to PurseBop. Hermes has a way of good marketing strategy. ? These are the bags already shown to me by my SA in my local store… so I’m guessing there should be more than 30 released in the world . ?
- Sasseve replied 8 years ago
Folks any updates for S/S, please share…
I have heard
Rose Azalea in swift for B25’s and K25’s
Lime in Croc (possibly in other leathers).
Blue Zanzibar – I just saw it, slightly softer than Blue Hydra
Malachite Green
Rumor that Gris T is back but no confirmation. Update: It is NOT. Spoke to our GM yesterday.
Contances with RGHW (rose gold)

Hi Kathi,
I was in your same situation at the beginning of 2016 when I first started my “Vitamin C” obsession. While 21 may also seem too young for such an expensive bag, many of the girls on my campus have these bags already. I was gifted my very first Birkin by my auntie in January. I ended up with 2 B and 2 K by the end of the year! I have also acquired 3B and 1K for my boyfriend’s mom.
I have heard many horror stories from my friends who also shop at my local boutique- they spent over $10k on jewelry and did not get offered one. While the mentality is that you must “spend some to get some”, I think it varies per person. I think your relationship with an SA is much more important. From my own personal experience, my purchase history was only 1 twilly and I was offered a B within 2 weeks. Long story short, it never hurts to try! Hermes crafts exquisite items. I love all of my H products as much as my B or K :)
I wish you well on your H journey~ Feel free to contact me directly on Instagram too!

Love your write up on our top 10 bags! Thank you for sharing in such detail! I love the Mary Poppins analogy ?? I still don’t have a WOC ? But you have inspired me to try. Could your image be too large – although there should not be any restrictions. If it still doesn’t work, email to me please at [email protected] ??

Sigh. I keep trying for my first Kelly. I have three colors that I have been listed down for, two sizes, and two diff leathers, but two years onwards and still no luck. SA’s keep leaving and I have never even been deemed worthy to be offered a bag, regardless of my personal account at the SF H store. So although I tried yet again a few days ago, my Christmas wishlist would be finally get the damn call from the third SA I’ve had in 2 years! Ahhhh!!

Hello Boppers! I am joining fairly late in the BopTalk game, but I’ve always loved watching the party from the sidelines. My name is Ewa and while I always call California home, I was born in Poland and spend most of my time living in the Portland area completing my post-bac requirements for medical school (crossing fingers for applications this summer). I love traveling, purses, shoes, food, animals, and laughing with good people. (I feel like that was a line in an online dating profile…) My IG profile name is workhardshophard and I do my best to live up to it with my modest collection.

Oh WOW Olivia, what a GORGEOUS B!!! Congrats on this beauty! I loved your story and enthusiasm, I’m like that too when it comes to bags ?❤️?
- PatiEv replied 8 years ago
Wow, I’ve never seen a Kelly or Birkin in suede… they’re gorgeous ? Only problem is I think you have to be much more careful with suede bags, and since I’m an accident prone person, I’d probably hurt the then too much ? But they are truly beautiful ❤️?
- PatiEv replied 8 years ago
Every year I send Santa the same email (modern times, no one sends letters anymore ?), saying I’ve been a good girl and would love it if he could goft me with a Chanel bag… I even tell him I’m not picky at all and that it could be pre-loved, any model, size and color (even though my faves are the Boy, Classic Flap and the Coco Handle ?)… but unfortunately every year I receive the same automatic answer from him saying “don’t even get started with your Chanel cravings… too expensive”, and that’s it… end of story??… But I’ll try again next year??????❤️❤️??
- PatiEv replied 8 years ago
My personal opinion: I think this bag is gorgeous BUT it’s a big investment for you to be having second thoughts about it. I think when it comes to Hermès, you have to look at it and your heart beats faster. Plus, you’ve already declined other bags, so you don’t have the problem of worrying you’ll never be offered another one becausw you know you will… I believe you should wait for the ones you really want, they will be yours eventually and you will cherish them more ?❤️?

Hi pursebop! Thank you for your reply and sharing. ? I like what you are doing here. It sure is not easy to juggle work, family and having this platform for us ladies to discuss about our favorite bags and shoes and exchange information . Thank you. ?
You are most welcome my dear… I’m delighted when I see the all of you using/sharing this discussion platform! Bravo & thank you ?

Am I the only one with Chanel issue here? Hahaha I own 26 bags (just counted to make sure I’m right) ???
I can’t put them all together in one picture, but you guys can see my instsgram page @someoverainbow

I am hoping Santa brings me a small Kelly! A K25 or K28 ?
- Pursebop replied 8 years ago
I can not have enough of Chanel :) I have my classics now if I buy one it has to be love at first sight. I have more than 15 CC bags but I can’t get enough of this fabulous brand :)
- Queen_isabelle8 replied 8 years ago
After I declined on the previous choices, I was also offered a Kelly 28 blue hydra GHW. I declined that as well as I was still hoping to get my few holy grail colors first.
Today, I was offered birkin 30 blue paradise , silver hardware. Clemence & evercolor material with ghillies!
Just to share with you ladies how this color looks like. The second picture has my Lindy bag in blue saint cyr for comparison.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am wondering…… with me being offered a few bags and if I kept rejecting , would the SA and manager of the store think that I am such a fussy customer and not offer me more choices in future?
But I am still quite bent on getting my few holy grail colors.
Hopefully they will come my way soon…. ☺️
- Sasseve replied 8 years ago
Absolutley not!! (Unless you’re in love) Too limiting in terms of care. For example, I have a swift Kelly- have to check the weather before I carry it. Too sunny, leather fades. Any chance of precipitation? Forget even thinking about bringing that bag out. Epsom birkin, ( in soufre) perfect tropical weather leather bc it can handle precipitation pretty well. Clemence Kelly- I can throw that thing around on an everyday basis and not worry about scratches discoloring staining etc. Bottom line is I have a headache even thinking of when and how I could use a bag made out of three totally different materials
Hope that helps best of luck
Xo
Probably the minority here but I love tri-leather in one color or shade than tri-color! I hope this was offered to me as I would grab it in a heartbeat!
