This kind of service rekindled my LoVe for LV. My SA had already replaced the ‘sticky handles’ on my empreinte Speedy Bandouliere 4 years prior but offered a full store credit if I were still unhappy, the caveat being I could only get items in the same type of leather. Took her up on it and went home with an empreinte Pochette Métis AND a Pochette Felicie in the same day. Have used them more in the past two years than I did the Speedy! The husband likes to refer to them as ‘the bags you got for free’ >_<

Thank you to both people who posted about the barbaric act of using the exotic leathers. I could not agree more with you both. I hope more people in the luxury community move away from exotics and stay with meat byproducts and vegan leather options. I love Hermes, but agree they have some shady practices that need to change with the times.

I think we in the luxury community should join animal rights activists in protesting exotic leather! It’s completely different than calf & lambskin, which are byproducts of the meat industry. Hermés breeds & tortures crocodiles just for you to carry as a purse! I wouldn’t even be able to wear that leather without guilt and shame. I can’t imagine the dirty looks from people who know what you’re wearing. There’s not much ethical about this brand, they torture their customers with their weird mind games to even be offered a bag, abuse animals and continue to use Jane Birkin’s name without consent. Gross practices around 🤢

This is very upsetting and shows that the time has come for even Hermes to drop the use of animal skins as there can never be any guarantee of no animal suffering. I personally own a crocodile Kelly that was purchased 20 years ago and am ashamed and feel sadness to carry it. Might end up selling it finally. With all the innovation of man made materials and Hermes new mushroom leather they need to invent a new type of man made that will give us all peace of mind. I’m not down for even 1 creature suffering. The French are notoriously resistant to any change though. So it will be difficult. Very sad story. But I hope change happens for all the animals in this world.

I think what needs to be discontinued is LV’s upper management and creative teams. What kind of business discontinues their most popular products? While the leather items at LV are nice, people shop there for the canvas.

I don’t think I will ever rent a bag. I love the pieces I buy and I want them to be part of my closet forever (unless my preferences change and I don’t wear it a lot so I look for a loving home and someone who will enjoy it more and that doesn’t happen often cause I think a lot before adding a new piece). I understand why bag rental will become the next big thing. If someone wants to try a bag out before making a purchase or bloggers who want to take photos without paying $$$ for a new bag..etc so many reasons in the ever changing marker and social media platforms

I think this is pretty bad and going to be even worse in the future when resellers buy everything they can get and then sell it for much higher prices (no matter where they come from). A limitation or quota bags could help.

Another stupid decision by LV. I hate that they are pushing leather items so much. People go to LV for the canvas. They should be taking advantage of that instead of limiting access to the pieces everyone actually wants.
