Barbiecore: The Style Trend that's Sweeping the Fashion World

What exactly is Barbiecore? To pink lovers, it is nothing new. However, with the upcoming release of the live action Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the Barbiecore movement has exploded. So what is it? Simply put- it’s a monochromatic look, mostly in hot pink or bubblegum shades, that’s bold, fun and feminine. Basically anything an actual Barbie doll would wear if she was a real person.

It’s also an ode to early 2000s fashion- a trend that has slowly but surely seen a resurgence in recent years. From platform heels to itty bitty handbags, Barbiecore personifies the ultragirly side of the iconic doll. Not only has it dominated social media, but Barbie core has spread beyond the realms of shopping malls and after-school teen hangout spots. In fact, you’ll find many a celeb rocking the look of the world’s most famous doll.
