And Karl said, “let there be light.” At least, that’s how we imagine the moment last week when Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s head designer, flipped the switch on red Christmas lights lining Paris’s Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The magnificent famed avenue of the City of Lights, leading to the Arc de Triomphe, is bathed in a deep red for the holiday season. Conveniently, the red matches the colors of the new limited edition bottle of Chanel No. 5. Coincidence? We doubt it. But the Avenue sure looks pretty. Included in the 1.4 mile light display were banners with Chanel’s double CC logo.
