Dior’s Cruise 2022 collection is all about reimagining house classics in a contemporary and sporty style. The show took place in Athens at the famous Panathenaic Stadium where the first ever Olympics were held. So from the outset, we knew this collection would be infused with sporty style.
New interpretations of age-old Dior staples like the famous Bar Jacket feature heavily in the collection. However, we here at PurseBop are preoccupied with the new sporty style bag which debuted at the show.
The new design featured on the runway in several sizes, colors and prints. The design’s shape is akin to a bowler style bag and is emblazoned with ‘CHRISTIAN DIOR PARIS’. The new style features an exterior zip compartment and some variations sport the house’s famous cannage pattern. While this pattern became famous on the Lady Dior bag, which is known for its structured and sophisticated finish, this new style is inherently relaxed and sporty looking.
The design features dual top handles and a thick guitar strap, which has become a Dior classic in recent years.
The larger styles would make the perfect gym or weekender bag and the smaller versions look like they would be best used as an everyday compact carry-all.
The collection includes the style in many colorways, including black/white, white/gold and yellow/white.
The sporty style bag is certainly different to the sleek and structured designs we typically see from the brand. What are your thoughts on this new design?
