In the early hours between Sunday, October 27, and Monday, October 28, a daring break-in at a Cannes luxury consignment store led to the theft of approximately €100,000 worth of Hermès bags.
The incident occurred at Luxury & Prim, a high-end boutique on Rue d’Alger known for its large selection of high-end handbags from brands such as Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton. Around 3:15 a.m., three individuals forced entry, breaking through the store’s iron shutter, swiftly gathering the coveted Hermès bags, and making their escape. CCTV footage from the store aided police in identifying the suspects, though their getaway car with false registration plates was abandoned shortly after the burglary.
This incident is reminiscent of a similar high-profile heist in Paris earlier this year. Chanel’s iconic boutique on 42 Avenue Montaigne was targeted in a smash-and-grab robbery during the early hours, underscoring a troubling rise in high-value thefts targeting luxury brands across France.
