Hermès Chaine d’Ancre bag from SS 2020 Runway

Remember seeing a Chaine d’Ancre bag on the Hermès Spring Summer 2020 Fashion Show?

To be honest this is the only bag that caught my eye when I watched the fashion show online!! However, first thing came to my mind is what can I put inside this bag? Everyone can see what I carry! And keys? Definitely not because it will fall out from the holes!! As a beach bag? No way because it is made of leather! So that means it is a very impractical bag!! Until later on I realized that it does come with an internal silk pouch that was not put inside the bag on those fashion models (oh!!!)

So my first impression when I saw this bag in person — it is GORGEOUS and I absolutely LOVE it!!

The one I saw is made entirely of barenia calfskin (imagine the smell!!) but it also comes in 2 other leathers: madame and tadelakt. The bottom part of this bag features a huge “Chaine d’Ancre” pattern! I just can’t help to take some pictures with it (please check @pursebop IG for the video!)

Only problem, the price tag of this bag is hefty (Barenia leather for HKD 108700) — ouch! — US price for this bag in madame is $11,200, barenia is $ 13,400, and tadelakt is $13,400 — and I heard that it won’t be easily seen in the store as they are push offers…

So what’s your thoughts on this bag? Do you like it or hate it?
