There’s news in the luxurious world of Hermès.
Hermès has recently revamped its first China store in The Peninsula Hotel in Beijing.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, Hermès revealed the recently expanded and renovated store in The Peninsula Hotel, Beijing. This specific boutique first opened its doors back in 1997 and was the first Hermès store in China.
This location remains a popular shopping destination in China. Hermès has remained confident in the Chinese market, which was extraordinarily unharmed by the pandemic. The popularity of the brand remains strong in Asia. Sales have risen about 22% in China during Q1 of 2023.

As the original boutique in China, the boutique houses everything you could possibly desire from Hermès… from iconic silk collections, beauty and jewelry, to highly sought-after leather goods, men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, equestrian pieces and fine jewelry and watches.
The anticipated expansion has seen the boutique almost double in size. This new and enticing store now benefits from a much more spacious layout. Customers can freely explore the luxury house’s full expression of 16 métiers in a series of beautiful salons.
In a recent company release, Hermès stated:
“The redesign is a testament to the house’s long-standing history and confidence in the Chinese market and its dynamic capital city.”
Designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the new space boasts a majestic and lengthy facade. The distinctive facade is constructed from wooden diamond-shaped tiles, resembling the scales of the dragon statues in the nearby Forbidden City. In contrast, the new floors of the store, are inspired by the gray stone of the temples of the imperial palace. As always the walls in the boutique are decorated with the brand’s artful silk scarves, including the iconic carré Astrologie Astronomie by Gianpaolo Pagni. The attention to detail here is most certainly incredibly impressive.
Have you had a chance to visit the newly renovated Hermès boutique in The Peninsula Beijing? We’d love to hear your first impressions and thoughts.
