Hermès Special Order Update: A Major Change for 2025

There’s news for Hermès aficionados hoping to place a special order in 2025. As part of the evolving special order offerings, Hermès has officially removed ostrich leather from the A La Carte List. Previously, clients had the unique opportunity to create highly customized Birkins and Kellys in ostrich, selecting from a variety of colorways and combinations. However, this option is no longer available, marking a significant shift in the Maison’s special order offerings this year.

While this is the most significant change, other aspects of the special order process remain similar to 2024. For example, color options and many other leather choices are still available, including some exotic leathers. While ostrich is no longer available as a special order this year, options such as crocodile and alligator remain on offer. However, it’s important to note that exotic requests are typically reserved for VVIP clients. Your SA will be able to advise you on eligibility and availability based on your profile.

While the Maison continually reviews its material selections, there is no confirmation if or when ostrich will be reintroduced in the future.

Does this change make you less interested in joining the exclusive Hermès “Horseshoe Club”?
