Influencer’s Birkin Stolen in London Fashion Boutique

In a chilling incident at a luxury boutique in London, influencer Janice Joostema has shared the gut-wrenching moment her Hermès Shoulder Birkin was stolen from her while she was changing clothes in a VIP fitting room.

Joostema, was at the Manière De Voir boutique on Oxford Street when the theft occurred. CCTV footage captures a brazen thief, dressed in a long white coat, sneaking into the changing room while Joostema was facing away from the door, unaware of the situation. The thief, who had been lurking around the store and pretending to browse, waited for the perfect moment before entering the room. The thief swiftly grabbed the vintage Rouge H Hermès JPG Shoulder Birkin and exited the boutique.

Joostema later shared her distress on Instagram, explaining that the bag was only a week old and had significant emotional value. Along with the expensive bag, the thief also took her passport, forcing Joostema to cancel her planned holiday to Switzerland.

In her post, Joostema warned others to be cautious, revealing that thieves are now targeting unsuspecting shoppers in fitting rooms. With bag snatching increasingly on the rise in London, it’s more important than ever to remain vigilant. Janice shared on Instagram:

I think going straight from a car to a restaurant or hotel can be okay but still stay vigilant. And if you are wanting a cute holiday stroll because London is truly beautiful at this time of year, a crossbody bag under your coat would be much safer and what I usually do. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that they are investigating the theft, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
