While most of us dream about the purchase of our first Birkin bag for years, one lucky toddler has been gifted the prestigious Hermès bag at the tender age of just two. It’s brought about the question – When it comes to a Birkin bag, are you ever too young?
Rapper Offset surprised his daughter with a Birkin 25 in bright pink for her 2nd birthday earlier this month. The star captured the sweet moment with his toddler Kulture on video and posted it on his Instagram account with the caption, “Late is better than never I Birkin my baby.”
While some social media users praised the gift as a great investment, others criticised the musician’s decision to lavish his young child with a present costing several thousands of dollars. One user wrote, “Let the kids be kids.” Another branded the bag a waste of money and argued that the expense should have been spent on toys.
However, Offset’s wife Cardi B came to his defense expressing her desire for her daughter to look nice. She wrote on Instagram, “And if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid.”
The chart-topper conveyed her love for her daughter’s status as her ‘mini me’ on social media, “She going to match mommy.”
Cardi B is no stranger to sporting matching outfits with her little one. Earlier this month the two were spotted at an event twinning in navy skirt and jacket co-ords complete with Chanel bags. The rapper donned the brand’s quilted water bottle bag around her waist while her little one looked adorable wearing a Chanel mini.
Gifting celebrity children with Birkins and other luxury bags is nothing new. Most notably the Kardashian/Jenner clan have routinely showered their little ones with designer gems from Louis Vuitton Nano Speedys to Kelly bags and even Birkins.
Kim Kardashian and Kayne West’s daughter North made headlines last year when she stepped out alongside her famous mother carrying a mini white Birkin at the age of six.
Kylie Jenner’s offspring Stormi was featured playing with her mom’s Mini Kelly II on Jenner’s Instagram last year after the reality star expressed her desire to save the bag for her daughter.
