Introducing MSCHF’s latest creation, dubbed the ‘Frankenstein’ bag, the GSCTH. An artistic masterpiece, the GSCTH stands for “Global Supply Chain Telephone Handbag,” referencing the long-winded design process behind the bag. MSCHF, known for its bold replications of iconic products, has crafted this avant-garde accessory by blending elements from four renowned designer handbags.
This unique design odyssey kicked off in Peru, where MSCHF commissioned the creation of a Hermès Birkin replica. From there, the brand steered the ‘Birkin’ to Portugal to infuse references from the Celine Nano Luggage. The design then journeyed to India, where elements inspired by the Dior Saddle bag seamlessly joined the mix. Finally, the bag landed in China, where a dash of Balenciaga Hourglass DNA was skillfully integrated, culminating in a truly unique and somewhat Frankenstein-esque handbag. Talk about a global creative collaboration. Noteworthy is MSCHF’s approach, as it handed vague instructions to each factory, allowing creative liberties to flow.
The bag underwent some final refinements once it had landed in-house at MSCHF, before entering the spotlight with a photoshoot with Dani Levy, Kim Kardashian’s stylist.
Beyond the eccentric design lies a deeper message – MSCHF sheds light on the often-overlooked creative labor of factories in the global supply chain. The GSCTH Handbag isn’t just a fashion statement – it stands as a commentary on the intricate web of creativity that brings products to life behind the scenes.
This isn’t MSCHF’s first statement creation – last year, they made headlines for the tiny Microscope Louis Vuitton Bag. Therefore it comes as no surprise that MSCHF is continuing to push boundaries and challenge societal norms to question the luxury fashion industry.
