The Hermès Constance bag has long been a symbol of Parisian sophistication. But its latest design brings a touch of British tradition into the mix, resulting in a fresh, playful version that feels just as suited to the streets of London as it does to Paris.
As part of the Hermès Fall/Winter 2024 collection, this new iteration offers a vibrant reimagining of British tartan, a pattern deeply rooted in aristocratic heritage. Constructed in printed Swift leather, the bag features an all-over scribble-effect tartan, giving a contemporary twist to the timeless design. Available in two soft hues — pale pink and gray — each version is complemented by Palladium hardware. By blending French craftsmanship with British tradition, Hermès has created a playful yet refined take on the iconic Constance bag.

The design motifs for this updated Constance bag come from a book preserved in the Hermès archive in Paris, creating a beautiful connection between the brand’s heritage and this new release. The result is a striking handbag that feels timeless yet contemporary, blending French flair with British refinement.
Interestingly, this isn’t Hermès’ first connection with British style. In 1918, Emile-Maurice Hermès, the grandson of the brand’s founder, worked with Edward VIII, the Prince of Wales, to create a custom golf jacket fitted with a zipper — at a time when Hermès held exclusive rights to use zippers in leather goods. Though their partnership was practical, it speaks to the historic links between Hermès and British high society.
Perfect for anyone looking for a piece that can transition effortlessly between London landmarks and Paris’s elegant streets, the new Constance bag embodies history and modern luxury.
