The Kelly Crisis.
Fellow Hermes lovers, I need to vent and share the constant struggle I have with the Kelly, in particular, the Sellier style.
As I plan my travel for later this week, I am faced with the same predicament I have each time. I will openly share with all of you in hopes of finding a solution with your advice.
Let me elaborate:
My lifestyle includes travel, lots of travel. When I travel I like to take at least a couple of bags with me. This is precisely where I get stuck. I would love to take my Kelly’s along as the strap makes it an ideal choice and allows for the hands free option, but the Kelly is just not a good choice for nesting bags.
We have discussed concept here: Nesting Bags – How To Travel With Handbags.
The Kelly’s shape and flap closure make it a poor choice for nesting, even for her very own smaller sisters. For instance, I can’t put a K28 inside a K32.
On the flip side I can easily nest a B25 inside a B30 or a B30 inside a B35.
Now if I can’t ‘nest’ and I am only traveling with a carry-on… there is no room for any extra bags. See the problem? It may seem trivial, but if I can’t use my Kelly’s for travel, they’re being left out of an integral part of my life. Yet they are quite possibly my favorite in the epic battle of K vs. B.
Each trip I end up taking Birkins because they are more convenient for nesting. If desired, I can pack another smaller B inside, a small Chanel boy inside that – and even a tiny CC mini inside that. That’s at a minimum 3 bags right here :)
Sadly other than my tiniest of Chanel mini’s there is not any other handbag that fits in my K32. Am I perhaps missing a nesting equation?
I’d like your help. Can you suggest anything to reinforce my Kelly love? For instance does a K28 or K25 ( I don’t have either yet) fit into a Birkin30?
Ideas please…
I adore using my Kelly’s in my daily rotation at home. I just terribly miss not being able to travel more with them.
#pursebopsgonekellycrazy is still my mantra!

Planning my travel. Took these shots as I make my handbag selections. The Birkin offers endless options for nesting. Here my Bubble Gum Pink B25 nesting very comfortably in my Gris Mouette B30.

Actually I am a big fan (and you know I travel a lot hehe) of the Kelly for trips (you are right about the nesting part its hard, I usually put it inside a Goyard St Louis and then a Miniaudiere in) but once you arrive is very practical! My favorite size is the 28. I usually pack 2 Fendi straps for them.

Love the Fendi straps on the Kelly’s. I have yet to acquire a 28. Goyard St Louis is my go to tote too.
Thank you for chiming in my dear. Hope you are well.

Reporting in that only a k25 sellier nests nicely in a B30. K28 retourne and sellier need not apply! ?

I once did see a lovely french girl nest her birkins together then one little Kelly peeking out. While she was carrying another Kelly on her shoulders.
