Luxury handbags are becoming the goods to grab when planning a mall heist. In January, a group of thieves broke into the Hermes store at the Fashion Valley Mall in California and stole $500,000 of merchandise. They took bags, jewelry and clothing.
Yesterday, another group broke into the Nordstrom department store at the same mall and took – not jewelry – but reportedly 15 Chanel handbags.
Are they really fashionistas or are these top end bags a quick buck on the resale market. Thoughts?

And in other purse snatching news: the Charleston SC Louis Vuitton store reportedly suffered three incidents of bag lifting in the last month. Among the $10,000 in heisted haul were wallets, a black and blue tote, a Jake backpack and possibly a Keepall bandolier 45.
Is this what happens when a bag is more valuable than its contents?
