It has not been a good few months for luxury brand Chanel. At least for one of its Beverly Hills boutiques. Earlier in the summer, thieves used a vehicle to ram into the storefront of the Beverly Grove Chanel store in the early hours of the morning. Significant damage was caused to the outlet’s front facing facade as the suspects were able to make off with display case items.

Now, just a few months later, the same Chanel store was targeted yet again. This time however, it seems the attempted burglary didn’t go as planned. According to the LAPD, a stolen vehicle was used to ram into the store at approximately 3AM. The two men then attempted to carry out the robbery but were met by security guards inside the boutique. Avoiding confrontation, the suspects fled the scene on foot. Details about the suspects is still unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available. In the meantime, luxury brands and the community at large have been put on alert once again. Although the last occurrence at this location took place in July, neither of these incidences are isolated. We have reported extensively on the rise in crime against owners of luxury goods, as well as an increase in smash-and-grab robberies. LA police in particular have warned residents to be hyper vigilant- whether that be while walking down the street or driving into their homes.

There have also been ideas circulating for luxury brands to remove their display pieces overnight to prevent what happened at Chanel’s Beverly Hills store from happening elsewhere.
More on this as the story develops.
