How do you all travel with or pack your carry ons while going on that long flight for vacation? Post pictures of you’d like!
I’ve been robbed almost every time, weather it’s TSA agents or just random citizens, I’m a VERY paranoid traveler, I’m very scared of the thieves we have in airports… Unfortunately including TSA agents…
So do comment some of the safe proof tips you all have for airplane safe travel for long flights!

When traveling I always like to bring an oversized bag and a small bag, I usually put the smaller bag inside the big bag as I don’t trust to put it on my suitcase, I’m so sorry you”ve had such bad experiences but I definitely rather to carry it with me because you never know, you cant trust people too much these days unfortunately specially with luxury goods, so sad but true.

Yes, exactly what I’m doing. Do you find the neverfull hard to travel with since it’s so open?
-
good question jzluxe, I’m curious about the tote too because I am considering a Goyard. I just bought one for my sister and am thinking of one for myself but worry about top being wide open?
-
Pursebop, I swore I’d never buy an LV bag anymore with monogram, because I’ve given away anything monogram besides the luggages to my mom and mother in law. I too was deciding between a neverfull and a St. Louis tote but my SA suggested neverfull for travel. because I’m getting more for what I pay and the neverfull can be tucked on the sides and there is a clasp on the opening of the bag for more security. And LVs do have a good after value…

Last year something “interesting” happened with my luggage (we went to Milan for fashion week) so i did some really nice shopping, but because i was with my kids decided not take my carry on – so my hands would be free- therefore all my shopping went into the checked luggage. Long story short my bag didn’t arrived. I was really sad, tried putting it in to perspective and think those lost were only material things, but still went to the airport everyday to look for my bag. Two weeks later i received a call telling me they found my bag. Intact. Everything inside :) I am sorry jzluxe you have had such bad experiences :( but wanted to share this with you because there are still honest people out there.

What a relief you found your goods! It’s always good to see and experience the good in this world. Good for who ever called you for the luggage!

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had such horrible experiences! If I’m traveling by plane, I make sure to carry anything valuable on with me. I NEVER check anything in and I even put locks on my carryons. If I’m traveling with a Birkin, I’ll usually carry it inside a Goyard tote (functions as a “dustbag” as well as gives me another bag option when I get to my destination), and I’ll put a smaller purse (clutch or WOC) inside the Birkin. If I can’t make everything fit in my carryon, I’ll either take over my husband’s LOL, or I leave it at home.

Orangekissed welcome to BopTalk my dear beautiful friend! Love your travel tips, very similar to mine! And loving the Goyard tote idea. I just took one to Montreal for my sister and have decided I will buy one for myself too. I will purchase the larger size so my B’s can fit. I did buy a long champs tote too, but don’t really like carrying it. But for rainy days it’s a great cover option ☔️.

Welcome Orangekisssed! Loved the Goyard tip.

I just bough a neverfull gm to throw everything in there, bags, essentials, iPad, etc… And yes whenever there’s no space just take over hubby’s ;)

Jzkuxe, so sad to hear your TSA horror stories!! ?? I do get nervous as well so I try to take a carry-on for my valuables whenever possible. It is hard, but necessary to travel in style ?⬇️
Just try to keep a close eye on your belongings at the airport and try not to put valuable peices in checked baggage to avoid theft. ?

Hello jzluxe. Travel can be a tricky space & everyone has different theories and suggestions but I will share mine. Firstly I travel with regular branded good quality luggage such as my current favorite, tumi luggage. I no longer use designer suitcases as my carry on/or check in, as I personally feel it attracts too much attention. Having said this, it depends on the purpose of the trip and whether I am alone or not. Family vacations I bend all rules but when alone I use a tumi carry-on, and place all valuables in it. I never check in handbags etc. My carry on is a hard case tumi and it goes through X ray closed. Inside is all my precious cargo. I have frequently shared how I pack my bags for travel on IG and will post a few pictures here too.
As for in flight long travel, Always use a bag that zips across or closes especially if you are going to be sleeping thru portions of the flight. Anotherwards an open B may not be a good idea. I recently bought a long champs tote and although far from glamorous serves its purpose of discreetly containing all your treasures.
Hope this helps. I do LOVE to take lovely bags with me, and feel if I can’t use them in the best of travel times then they are not necessary. Our lifestyle involves many great trips to celebrate great moments with friends & I want my favorites with me, within reason. The trick is to learn to effectively and safely stack one within the other. I’ll share one post here of packing a BOY bag… many more pics on the site.

I just bought a neverfull gm as a carry on to put every essential I need including the bags I’m taking with me. I swore I’d never travel on a public plane with branded logos/monograms I feel way to much unwanted attention attracted. Especially going to a different country, it could be scary! I also bought the Tumi sets, I use to always travel with some brand I got from Nordstrom that I loved, but it was falling apart after many many years… That’s why I’m looking for a new packing way. My family will be with me, so I have a little extra space with their carry ons as well ;)

Sorry to hear that you’ve had travel troubles! I always put my bags in their dustbags and then cushion them with t-shirts for the extra protection, after that I place them within another, more sturdy bag. That counts as my first carry-on. Then I will either use a Louis Vuitton Keepall or Pegasse – depending on where I am traveling – to bring my larger valuables/items I am not willing to lose. That counts as my second carry-on piece.
Here are some other tips that have helped me avoid losing any items.
1. I always let my partner go through security before me, so he can collect my bags as 9/10 times I set the alarm off and TSA just love to pat me down. This prevents my bags from sitting unattended.
2. Always fly first class. Better everything lol
3. Put your bag under the seat in front of you if possible. Less chance of someone stealing it.

Hi, hon?… Use normal bags like Tumi… And wrap your bags with plastic… Before checking in… It’s easier that way?
- UyandaM replied 10 years ago

I’ll start wrapping the bags with some plastic travel bags! Great discreet idea!
