Hi ladies,
So I am a big buyer and lover of Chanel at the moment with 4 bags, 3 wallets and countless shoes and jewllery BUT I want to start my journey into Hermes, Chanel’s regular price increases are insane given the quality compared to both Chanel and Hermes….
Now I know I simply cannot just walk into a Hermes store and demand they give me a Birkin/Kelly. I live 3 hours drive from London’s Hermes boutique and have no SA relationship yet. How did YOU all work your way up the “Hermes ladder”, did you start with smaller pieces like jewllery etc until Hermes recognised you as a valued customer and how long did it take for you to acquire your DREAM Hermes bag? Or were you just simply very lucky?
Really looking forward to hearing from some of you Hermes ladies :)

I have started the journey somewhat recently as well and literally a few weeks ago got offered my first bag from my local store. Working on a fabulous reveal for IG and Boptalk! My husband and I also have a relationship we are cultivating with an SA in one of the Paris stores as we are there fairly often. In both cases I have bought a few items I wanted over a period of a year or two – not just to build a purchase history persay, but things I genuinely wanted, like bright colored belt straps, a certain fedora, the Kermit Oliver new scarf that came out in 2014. I then bought an orange jypsiere as my first bag purchase as I intended on investing in an amazing cross body and I fell in love with it. I also already owned a BE swift Kelly that my husband bought from a friend who had ordered it and didn’t want it when it came in. So I carried that in fairly often. I really just put in a lot of face time at the store, hanging out with my SA and getting to know her – I also had to start over completely with all this bc my SA left after a long time with Hermes to fulfill her jewelry passions with Harry Winston! I think it’s just patience and persistence to some extent – I am really no expert. I only just now got offered this bag after a few casual convos about something really specific with the assistant GM, things I had seen on IG and PurseBop, the upcoming re-opening of our Hermes store, etc. I think being really specific helps. Give them a few colors/leathers only that are your absolute favorites. I am not as picky as some ladies with hardware usually so that might also help, lol. So that was three years or so of all this and it paid off!! I’m sorry your closest store is far away from you, but just put in as much face time as possible, check in with them, know your SAs days off, etc. I hope dear Mrs. PurseBop gives you her story as I think she was a long-time Chanel collector long before she decided to delve into the orange box fantasy land! She will have some great tips as well as the other way more seasoned H ladies on here! Hope this is helpful! Cheers – @sapphiresandscotch ??

Thank you so much for your reply @sapphiresandscotch There are lots of wonderful things I would like in the way of jewllery and the silk so like you said not only do you get the items you would like but it starts a purchase history too! You’ve given some great advice that I am certainly going to take note of. I am arranging a trip with a friend which will enable me to visit the Hermes so I am going to pop in with her (who is already a customer and got offered her first Birkin not so long ago) buy a few things hopefully with a wonderful SA I can build a relationship with. It’s all so very exciting and I cannot wait to start my Hermes journey… I have followed you on IG too
