Dear PurseBop:
I would like to know if Special Orders can be shipped to another country and/or picked up in Paris. Background to my query is that I was offered the chance to place a special order a few months ago. However, I have since relocated to a new country for personal reasons. The city that I was offered the SO is 7000+ miles away and Paris is much nearer. Would it be possible to ask to switch the city to pick up the bag to Paris or have Hermès ship it directly to me? I can pay in my home currency, even if it’s significantly higher than Paris.
Dear Ship Me My Bag:
In general, Hermès does not usually permit quota bags to be shipped except in unusual circumstances and with Manager approval. During the Pandemic this method was utilized because stores were closed and people were sheltered at home. Quota bags were shipped if the client could not come to the store.
From our understanding, individual Hermès boutiques make their own rules with respect to how they run their day-to-day operations. Shipping quota bags to clients is a courtesy a specific boutique may offer to their clients in unusual circumstances or VIP’s that live out of state or in some rare cases, even a different country.
So, to answer your question… it is possible to have a Special Order quota bag shipped, but it is not common practice and requires your store manager’s approval. We suspect Hermès prefers most transactions to be made in store for many reasons.
It is best to ask your SA what the options are for your specific situation. It is possible they will find a solution that works for you.
Good luck and happy shopping.
