It is our understanding that all SA’s in the three Hermès boutiques in Paris do not work on commission like in the U.S. Many of the SA’s work in one area or metier of the store and may or may not be able to assist a customer is all areas of the store including leather. Many will refer a client to a colleague in another department for assistance. Nevertheless, we do believe that the amount of pre-spend you have in that particular location may likely affect what kind of non-quota or quota bag offer you receive.
On occasion, certain SA’s in Paris may obtain manager approval to offer a customer a leather appointment or a leather bag on the spot. The parameters surrounding this occurrence is so varied and dependent on many, many factors that it is impossible to predict when and if this will happen.
In our personal experience, and with the information we have obtained from our community members’ experiences, it is getting more and more difficult to obtain a quota bag in Paris with and without a lottery appointment.
There have been multiple reports of our members getting a lottery appointment and still not being offered a quota bag. Some have a small amount of pre-spend in Paris and others have a large spend profile. Others may get lucky with a walk-ln appointment. A very few get a quota bag offer, whereas most do not. They may or may not be offered a non-quota bag at the walk-in appointment.
The experiences are so varied and unpredictable that it is best to travel to Paris with very low expectations of being offered a bag. If you are successful that is a wonderful occurrence and a memory to cherish.
