Does Hermès Have An Updated Color Chart for 2023 for Special Orders?

Dear PurseBop, I was offered a Special Order (SO). Does Hermès already have an updated color chart for 2023 for SOs? I am frightened to choose a color this year which isn’t available next year anymore. Does this happen or do I exaggerate? Many many thanks!

Dear Color Chart Worrier:

There is no need to worry. Hermès releases its color charts for Special Orders twice a year. In the Spring (for Spring/Summer SO’s) and again in the Fall (for Fall/Winter SO’s). The color chart usually does not change for a year or more.

The color chart used when the Special Order bag is created is based on the colors available at that time. If you place a SO in the Fall of 2022 or in the Winter of 2023, the same color chart is used. The existing color chart for 2022 is used for orders placed in the winter of 2023. You will not likelyhave to worry about the availability of the colors on that chart. It is a very rare occasion when a particular color becomes so popular that it is removed from the list and is unavailable. It is possible, but does not occur often.

Our advice is to choose your favorite color, leather, size, and style of bag based on the choices available at the time of your Special Order appointment. If one of those colors does not appear on the Spring/Summer 2023 color chart, it should not affect your choices. Once you submit your SO through your boutique, Paris will advise your store if there is a problem with your selections.

Now the waiting begins. It can take anywhere from 6 months to 18 months to receive your Special Order. Be patient, enjoy shopping, and your new creation will arrive when you least expect it.
