Dear PurseBop:
If I already purchased 2 Hermès quota bags this year, one from my country and one from Paris, can I buy another quota bag from Paris again in the same year with the same account? What are your recommendations?
Dear 2 Hermès Quota Bags,
Hermès has a strict policy regarding quota bags, which typically limits customers to two quota bags (Birkin or Kelly) per year, per account, regardless of the store or country. This means that if you’ve already purchased two quota bags (one in your home country and one in Paris) in the same year, you would technically not be able to purchase a third quota bag using the same account in Paris or anywhere else.
The profiles between Paris and other countries have been in the process of being linked since 2022. Nevertheless, we do receive reports from some of our community members that their profile is not linked. This may be due to the use of a different name on one’s passport versus their identification or credit card in their home country. Some use their maiden name in one location and married name in another to keep their profiles separate.
- Ensure that your previous quota bag purchases have been registered under your account. If you used different accounts (such as your husband or other family member) or methods of purchase, there might be some flexibility.
- You can still buy other non-quota Hermès bags, accessories, or ready-to-wear items during your visit. Showing interest in a variety of Hermès products might strengthen your relationship with the store or SA for future visits and purchases.
- While you may not be able to purchase another Birkin or Kelly, there are other desirable Hermès bags like the Constance, Lindy, or Picotin that might still interest you.
- If you have a good relationship with your sales associate (SA), they might be able to provide more detailed guidance on how the rules apply to your specific situation. Some SAs might suggest a desirable non quota bag such as the Kelly Elan or Kelly Pochette if available, or advise you on timing for future purchases.
- Shop with a family member or friend who may be able to put the purchase of a quota bag on their profile.
- Plan your purchases strategically across different years to maximize your collection. If you are dedicated to expanding your Hermès collection, patience and long-term planning are key.
Sticking to these guidelines will help maintain a positive relationship with Hermès and set you up for future successful purchases.
