How Can I Politely Remind My SA in Paris About a Special Order They Promised at My Last Visit?

The last time I was in Paris (March 2024) I was offered three different quota bags but sadly, none were quite right for me. My SA (our relationship goes back a couple of years) was aware of this, and due to not finding anything on that trip, offered a special order the next time I am in Paris. She was unable to offer the SO at that visit because the boutique’s SO spots were filled.

How do I politely remind my SA of this discussion without sounding improper or pushy? Also, are there certain times or months where Special Orders are not offered in Paris?

Dear Special Order Hopeful:

Since you have a reasonably long relationship with your SA in Paris and they know you well, you have two options. First, you should contact them to insure they will be working on the days you plan to visit Paris. Once that information is secured, you may proceed in one of two directions.

One choice is to wait until your appointment in person and provide your SA with your wishlist, and include a Special Order among the choices. Most SA’s do not know what bags will be available at the time of your visit until they check the stock based on your request. If there is a bag available that meets your wish the offer of a Special Order may or may not be an option as well.

Secondly, you could mention the Special Order in your second communication with your SA as a friendly reminder of your last visit. A suggestion is to say: “During my last visit with you we discussed the possibility of doing a Special Order. If that is an option during this visit, that would be very amazing. Looking forward to seeing you soon.”

Once you hear from your SA you will know how to proceed. Sometimes it is best to do most of your communication in person once you have a designated day and time to meet.

In Paris Special Orders seem to be offered during most months of the year provided the number of available slots have not been filled. We have heard that possibly July and August may be harder to be offered a SO but with Hermès anything is possible.
