How Do I Know How Long a New Seasonal Hermès Color Will Be Produced?

I’d like to know if yearly colors for bags are only available the year they are produced. For example, this year gris pale is a new color. Will it be available next year and going forward, or only this year? Thank you.

Every year Hermès releases several new seasonal colors and often reintroduces colors from the past that may have been retired for the time being. It is impossible to predict how long the newly introduced color (such as Gris Pale), or reintroduced color will remain in the color production chain. Some colors only last one season and other colors become so popular that they remain for many years.

For example, Mauve Sylvestre was introduced by Hemès in 2019. Four years later it is still being used for small leather goods and many types of quota and non-quota bags. We do not know if this color will become a regular offer in future years.

We wait to see what color bags are being produced each year and choose accordingly, given the opportunity. Gris Pale is a stunning pastel that could become very popular. We tend to see more of the new colors approximately 6-12 months after they are announced.

For example, in February 2022 we reported the new spring/summer colors were Mauve Pale, Vert Fizz, and Mushroom. Starting approximately 9 months later we are seeing these colors emerge more often than in previous months. Due to their popularity it is possible that they could remain longer than one year. Mauve Pale is on the Special Order list for 2023 so this is a sign of more of this color to come.
