How Do I Know It Is Time to Find A New Hermès SA And How Do I Navigate the Transition?

Dear PurseBop:

When do you give up on your SA and move on to a new relationship with a new SA politely. I have been a consistent Hermes’ client since 2018 and have spent 2:1. I was really hoping I would get offered my quota bag by my 40th birthday and I haven’t.

I’m really upset I just feel like my SA keeps brushing me off. I made a Wishlist 12 months ago and nothing to this day. When I purchase from other boutiques and express interest in a bag they always suggest I revert back to my original SA. Although last time I went into another Hermes’ store at a shopping mall – not a city store, the SA offered to set up another Wishlist through that store. I did – but found it strange because I thought profiles were synced to actual stores. FYI I’m in Australia not sure if protocol is different here.

I think it’s time I start a new relationship with an SA but don’t know how. It seems odd because I’ve been with the same SA since 2019. How do I go about this? Please I’m getting nowhere with this one,

I appreciate any advice 🙏🏼

Dear Time To Find A New SA:

It appears that you have been patient, loyal, and have a long relationship with your SA. However, it is clear that you are not happy with the results. We have heard that Australia is quite challenging and stock may be even more limited than other locations, but it may be time for a change. Some suggestions for finding a new SA include:

-Speak to a manager and let them know your experience, your history, your loyalty to the brand and to your SA and ask if there is something they can suggest or whether switching to another SA might be a good move;

-Since you have been shopping at your home store for over 5 years you may have become acquainted with other SA’s and have seen them interact with their clients. If there is one you think you would enjoy working with, approach them and ask if you could start shopping with them since your SA is not as responsive to you as you had hoped.

-Alternatively, you may start shopping in another location and let the SA in the new store know that you wish to switch to their location and sever ties with your longtime SA. They will likely be happy to work with you. Start the relationship off right by being honest and open about your past experience, your tastes and desires, and how long they believe it might be before you are offered a quota bag.

-Be honest and respectful when you are ready to make a change. Reach out to your current SA and express your appreciation for their assistance. You can mention that you’ve decided to explore working with another SA for specific reasons. Frame it in a way that emphasizes your own preferences rather than making it seem like a negative reflection on their service. Explain that your reasons are a matter of personal preference and wanting a different shopping experience. Let your SA know that you have connected with another SA either in the same boutique or in another location. Being open and honest can make the transition process easier.

-Focus on building a positive relationship with the new SA. Let them know your preferences and expectations to ensure your experience aligns with what you are hoping to accomplish.

Many times making a change is the hardest thing to do but it can result in a positive outcome. Remember to be polite, respectful, and do not say anything negative about your former experience. Instead focus on the positive and just say it may be time for a change. They will understand.
