Dear PurseBop:
How long do Hermes wish lists take after you have spent a one to one ratio
The timing of when you may receive a wish list item from Hermès can vary widely based on multiple factors, including boutique policies, availability of the specific item, purchase history, and overall demand. While there isn’t a standard time frame for receiving a wish list item here are some general considerations:
- Different Hermès boutiques have varying policies for fulfilling wish list requests based on their location, size of the boutique, overall demand, and how often they receive shipments. Some boutiques may prioritize customers based on spending history, loyalty and engagement and other factors.
- Achieving a one-to-one spending ratio (spending an amount equivalent to the desired item’s value) can demonstrate your commitment to the brand and may enhance your position in the allocation process. However, a spending ratio is not something Hermès endorses. It is a very individual journey and everyone’s experience is different which includes how much they have spent before having their wish list fulfilled.
- The availability of the specific item you’re interested in can significantly impact the timeline. Some items may be more sought after and have a longer waiting list, while others might become available relatively quickly. The Birkin 30 or Kelly 28 may be available sooner than the same bag in a smaller size. Keeping your size options open may add flexibility.
- The demand for certain items can influence how quickly you receive them. Highly coveted items might have a longer waiting list due to their popularity such as a Mini Kelly or Kelly Pochette.
- Regular communication with your Sales Associate (SA) is important. Your SA can provide insights into the availability of the item, the status of your wish list, a potential timeline for fulfillment, and any updates on your request.
- Sometimes, new collection releases can affect the availability of wish list items. Boutiques might prioritize the allocation of new items during collection launches. Color choices also play a factor. The color on your wish list may not be in production that season. It is a good idea to be flexible and consider requesting color families (such as greens, pinks, blues, etc.) instead of a particular Hermès color, unless you are sure it is in production. Certain neutral or classic colors such as Noir, Gold, Etoupe, Etain, and Craie are usually in production year round.
- Timing might also be influenced by seasonal factors. The availability of certain items may vary based on the time of year and the overall product release schedule. New color releases in the spring usually means bags in those colors are likely to be seen in the coming months. Requesting a new seasonal color that was recently released may increase your chances of having your wish list fulfilled sooner.
It is important to manage your expectations and communicate openly with your SA about your wish list item. While achieving a one-to-one spending ratio can be a positive step, it’s not a guarantee of an immediate allocation. Building a strong relationship with your SA, being patient, and staying engaged with the brand can all contribute to a positive outcome in receiving your desired wish list item. In countries using the wish list centralized system, be aware that it usually expires after 12 months. Be sure to renew your wish list should it not be fulfilled within that time frame.
