How Many Luxury Bags Do You Recommend Bringing On Vacation?

I was wondering how many and which luxury bags you recommend bringing on vacation? 

Dear Vacation Traveler:

The answer to this question may vary depending on your destination. Assuming you have the space in your carry-on tote and carry-on luggage, one suggestion is to bring 3-4  different size bags. Generally, one small or evening bag, possibly one crossbody bag for daytime sightseeing, one medium day to evening bag, and one large tote style bag.

We recommend one good crossbody bag, such as a wallet on a chain or a mini or medium Evelyne bag, that can be worn sightseeing, or where there are large crowds, or when traveling, to hold your passport and other daily essentials. It is wise to keep your handbag closed at all times and close to the front of your body while traveling to avoid pick pockets.

Second, one bag that can serve as an evening bag and possibly double as a daytime bag as well, such as a Chanel classic flap, mini rectangle flap bag, Hermes Kelly 25 or mini Kelly is an option. Other options are a Kelly Danse, a Kelly Elan, or other bag that doubles as a clutch or a medium bag with a shoulder strap.

Third, a tote that you can use to nest the other two bags when traveling is essential. The tote can also be used as a daytime beach or adventure bag because it can hold many items needed for a full day’s itinerary.

Depending on the location and events planned, a dressy evening small evening bag may be useful in black, a pop of color, or a gold or silver. A mini Kelly transitions well from day to night but holds very little. Consider a fancy Chanel flap bag or wallet on a chain is always a versatile choice when traveling. Other options are a Lady Dior or D’Joy bag, or a Louis Vuitton monogram or epi leather bag, or a Bottega Andiamo clutch or Kelly Pochette or Kelly Cut.

Whichever bags you choose, be sure there is enough room to pack them in your carry on tote or rolling luggage. Under no circumstances should you ever consider packing your luxury handbags, jewelry or other valuables in checked luggage.
