Question:
Do your bags need to go to the Hermes spa for conditioning every so often? If so, how frequently? Or does it depend on humidity and use? I tried to drop my 9 year old gently used Birkin for conditioning and cleaning and the Hermes boutique told me it was perfect. Thank you! The artisans at the Hermes event said that it should be done to maintain the bag.
Dear Hermès Spa Conditioning?
Hermès bags are hand made of the finest leathers and materials. They are intended to last a very long time. However, if your bag should show signs of wear, damage, or distress, the Hermès spa is an amazing resource to get your bag looking gorgeous again. They can repair most areas of your bag.
If you treat your Hermès bags with care, do not store them in direct sunlight, keep them in their dust bag and/or box, maintain a comfortable temperature that does not expose them to extreme heat or humidity, your bag should not need a visit to the spa unless they show signs of wear or damage.
The Hermès artisans can repair a zipper, mend the seams, repair or replace the top handle or shoulder strap, repair the corners or edges where the leather may show wear, repair or replace the hardware, etc. It is our understanding that they may not clean up the interior of your leather bag if there are pen marks or other imperfections inside. They will repair the hardware inside such as the zipper, though.
They are masters at their craft. The artisans initials are inside your bag and it is possible that the original person who created your bag may also repair it.
The Hermès spa is not just for bags. They also do maintenance and repair on their watches, jewelry, ready to wear, accessories, home products, silks, saddles, etc.
