How Often is the Hermès Special Order Offered in Each Store?

Is the Hermès Special Order opportunity given each year? Could you explain how often you could get it. Thank you

Dear Twice a Year:

In order to place a Special Order (SO) you must be invited by your SA in your home boutique or in Paris. In the U.S. the SO opportunity is generally offered twice a year. Although the exact timing can vary at each location, a SO is usually offered between March and May and again between September and November.

How often you may be offered the opportunity to create a SO also varies greatly by boutique location, size of store, number of SA’s, number of clients, and other factors. Locations that are smaller and have less competition may allow their clients more opportunities to create SO’s. However, in most locations, there are so many clients that would qualify that being offered the opportunity even once is an honor.

It is completely acceptable to let your SA know that you would be interested in placing a special order if offered the opportunity. It does require manager approval. And many locations are offering SO’s to customers who have never created one in the past.

Our best advice is to maintain a good relationship with your SA. Visit your home store on a regular basis. And purchase items you love and will use or give as a gift. Have patience and your SA may surprise you when you least expect it.
