How Valuable and Desirable Are the Hermès Touch Bags?

Dear PurseBop:

I am curious about the Hermès “touch” bags. How are they in terms of value, are they that desirable?

Thank you!

Dear Hermès “Touch” Bags:

A Hermès Touch bag has an exotic skin such as crocodile, alligator, or lizard usually on the handle(s) and sangles. Although usually found on Birkins and Kellys, touch bags are also being seen on Lindys and Picotins as well.

Touch bags are very beautiful and rare. They are quite desirable and a very special offer. Usually to be offered an exotic skin bag requires an established relationship with a SA, and a very substantial spend history. But there are always exceptions. Many times it can be the first step into the world of purchasing exotic quota bags.

Like most Hermès quota bags, their value on the secondary market is dependent on the age of the bag, the condition of the bag, the color, leather, and size of the bag. All these variables affect the value of the bag on resale. The fact that it also has exotic skin may increase its value but the amount can vary. In addition, the market for exotic skin bags is smaller than the market for normal leather bags. So although valuable, desirable, and beautiful, the demand is lower likely due to the price point.
