Question:
I live in an area with a very competitive store because of the high concentration of wealth in the Bay Area. I want to start building my purchase history and working toward a Birkin, but it feels like an unachievable goal because I’ll never be considered a VIP. What should I do?
Dear New Hermes Client:
Our suggestion is to visit your local store and talk to several SA’s, or request that a manager help you connect with an SA in your store with whom you can build a relationship. You do not have to be a “high spender” or VIP to get offered a quota bag.
Build an honest and legitimate relationship with an SA and buy what you love at Hermes. Be patient, be open, and be honest with your SA. Let them know what you like, provide them a wishlist of bags you would love to be offered, and it will happen if you are patient.
All stores have become extremely busy, competitive, and the process can be overwhelming. But if you find an SA you like to shop with, with whom you connect and can communicate with, the process can be quite enjoyable. Good luck.

I also live in the Bay Area, absolutely love my SA. She’s super friendly, open and honest with me. She was open about the difficulty in getting a B or a K, but said a Constance would be easier. 2 months after stating that, I was offered the C. It does take a lot of spend in a BA store, and that might mean a bit of time. I don’t think I’ll see another offer until next year, but I think that’s ok, because I love the brand and I’m enjoying buying other things that I love and wear while building my profile and relationship with H and my SA! However, I am headed to Paris in October, and I’m sure going to try my best there! Enjoy the journey!
