If I Refuse An Offer of an Exotic Hermès Bag Will It Jeopardize My Future Offers?

Dear PurseBop,

I have just been offered my first (non ostrich/non lizard) exotic bag, a gorgeous Constance 18 in a beautiful pop of color I love with a very, very different clasp. It is stunning – absolutely gorgeous and looks fab on too, but I am surprisingly hesitant…

I have several Birkins, I have several Kelly bags, I have several Constance bags and I have many other Hermès bags. I love and use every one of them regularly. But, I also have a lot of RTW and shoes which make up my day to day wardrobe.

I am hesitant in that I am not sure the $50,000+ is worth spending on one bag, knowing that this will ultimately cost me the ability to purchase months of other things I love and adore. Equally, do I make the jump, knowing how lucky I am to have been offered an exotic bag – and one that I think is stunning – and perhaps never be offered another one again?

Dear Exotic Constance Dilemma:

Congratulations on being offered an amazing exotic Constance. It is an honor and a commitment to accept such a bag. You are wise to consider your options considering your collection, your budget, and your future shopping habits.

Do not feel obligated to accept any exotic or leather handbag your SA offers. They want you to be happy with your purchase. If the bag does not make your heart sing, and you have any doubt about accepting the bag, you should consider declining the bag. It is a good idea to explain your concerns with your SA. Remember, they do not make a commission on quota bags. So the fact that you do not want the exotic purchase to interfere with your future Hermès shopping can only benefit your SA. They will understand and there is likely to be more offers in the future.

Good Luck and Happy Shopping.
