Question:
Hi, i just purchased a Chanel 2.55 small. Is it also a good investment like the Chanel Classic Double Flap?
Dear New Chanel 2.55 Owner:
Whether a new bag is a good investment is such a broad term it is difficult to answer. If you would like to know whether the Chanel 2.55 in the small size will increase in value on the resale market, many factors affect the resale value. As you may know, Chanel has raised their prices on most of their classic flap bags multiple times over the past several years. As a result, the resale value of these bags is not as high as one would hope.
We recommend buying bags that you love and will use. If you find the need or desire to re-home one of your bags, the value will be determined based on many factors. Some of those factors include the condition of the bag at the time of sale (brand new, slightly used, excellent condition, very good condition, etc.), the age of the bag, the popularity of the style, size, leather, and color of the bag, and the relative availability of the bag in the marketplace at the time of sale.
A Chanel classic 2.55 in small definitely holds its value. However, whether it is a “good investment” is difficult to determine. All Chanel bags are a “good investment” if you love and use them.
