Dear PurseBop:

Hello, I have heard rumors that Hermès is discontinuing the Halzan, Kelly Cut and Kelly Pochette. Are you able to confirm this?

Dear Discontinued Hermès Bags:

Hermès rarely confirms or denies whether a certain bag is discontinued. More likely, Hermès may pull back on the production of certain bags and either produce less or take a break from producing a certain style for a period of time. However, we do not believe it is likely that they will stop producing popular bags unless they intend to introduce a new version of that bag.

The Halzan, Kelly Cut, and Kelly Pochette are very popular bags. The Kelly Cut has never been over produced which keeps its popularity and desire for it high. We have recently seen the Kelly Cut in Doblis (suede) in the display cases in Paris. We do not have any confirmed information that the Kelly Cut has been discontinued.

Similarly, the Kelly Pochette has become an extremely popular bag due to several reasons. First, it is a mini bag that holds a cell phone whereas the Mini Kelly II generally will not accommodate most cell phones. Second, most locations receive relatively few Pochettes in relation to the amount of requests. It is possible they reduced the number of Pochettes being produced. Third, the Kelly Pochette has also recently been spotted in a suede version (doblis) in the display cases in Paris as well as in a rare color such as Vert Cricquet in at least one London boutique. We do not believe it has been discontinued at this time.

The Halzan is a great non-quota bag that has become very popular as well. We do not believe Hermès has discontinued the bag although it has been seen less and less. They may have started producing less for a period of time to focus on some of the newer bags being introduced.
