Dear PurseBop,
Is your first quota bag offer easier than a second one? I have been waiting much longer and spending more without a bag.
Dear Waiting for Second Quota Bag,
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to your very common question. There are many reasons why it feels like the second quota bag offer is taking much longer than anticipated. Many people report that they received their first quota bag within a ‘reasonable’ period of time.
This could be due to many factors.
Most people’s first quota bag is a bag that your boutique may receive more often. Your wishlist bag may be more easily attainable than the bag requested as your second quota bag. For instance, a first time shopper may request a Birkin 30 in a neutral color as their first bag. This bag may arrive at the boutique more often than a small Birkin 25 in a color such as pink. So your first offer may be offered within a reasonable time.
However, the next bag on your wishlist may be a Kelly 25 Sellier in a pop of color or gold on gold for instance. This bag is harder to obtain because it takes more hours to produce and may be more a more exclusive style/combo.
There are likely many other factors as well affecting the timing of receipt of your second quota bag offer. For example, since the Pandemic, Hermès has experienced an unbelievable increase in the demand. This has increased the competition for bags at almost all locations around the world. The inventory remains low and in some instances non existent, but the demand has increased greatly.
The best advice is to be patient, stay in touch with your SA, shop with them on a regular basis, and update your wishlist every 3-4 months.
Good luck and Happy Shopping.
