Being offered an exotic non-quota bag such as a Roulis or a quota bag like a Birkin or Kelly is based on many factors and variables. It is impossible to determine which one is “easier” because all bags at Hermès are based on many factors aligning. Location of your home store, relationship with your SA, timing, availability, popularity of the item, and more may have an effect on the likelihood of being offered the bag of your dreams.
First, if you live in a major city in the U.S. for example, the competition may be high and it could take a long time. Another major factor that will play a role is what exotic non-quota bags does your boutique actually receive. We presume smaller stores receive less inventory than larger stores located in major cities. Also some stores have many clients who desire exotic bags and other locations have fewer clients.
Second, advise your SA of your desire for an exotic Roulis or other style. Then continue to build your relationship with your SA and the store by making staying in touch and making purchases of items you love. Your SA can advise you of the likelihood of being offered the bag of your dreams and if one is likely to arrive in your locations.
Third, timing of your request could impact when you are offered an exotic non-quota bag. If a delivery arrives and contains the bag you desire it could mean a short wait. Alternatively, if exotic non-quota bags do not arrive frequently to your home store it could delay your wish fulfillment.
