Yes, it’s possible to establish a relationship with a Hermès Sales Associate (SA) in a country that is not your home store. Many Hermès customers, especially those who travel frequently or have preferences for certain boutiques, choose to work with SAs in different locations. Here’s how you can do it:
Visit Boutiques: When you’re traveling or visiting different countries, you can visit Hermès boutiques and interact with SAs in those locations. This is a great way to meet SAs and start building a relationship.
Communicate: If you find a SA you connect with during your visit, exchange contact information and express your interest in staying in touch. You can share your preferences and what you’re looking for in future interactions and communications.
Remote Communication: In today’s digital age, it’s possible to communicate with SAs remotely through texts, WhatsApp, email, phone calls, or even video calls. It will of course depend on your SA’s willingness and preferred communication style. This way, you can receive information about new arrivals, products, and opportunities without being physically present.
Build A Rapport: Just like with your home store, building rapport and trust with a SA in another country is important. Communicate your preferences, desires, and needs clearly so they can assist you effectively.
Visit Regularly: If you frequently travel to a particular country that has a Hermès boutique, you can make it a point to visit that store when you’re in town. This allows you to maintain a personal connection with the SA. Let the SA know how often you will likely be visiting.
Respect Boutique Policies: Keep in mind that each boutique might have its own policies for customer interactions and allocation of exclusive items. Be respectful of their guidelines and practices. Some boutiques will only sell quota bags to local clients. Be sure to discuss this issue with your SA before making significant purchases. Usually this means clients who shop at the location on a regular basis.
Long-Distance Purchases: Some boutiques might offer the option for long-distance purchasing. This means you could potentially purchase items from them even if you’re not physically present.
Remember that building a strong relationship with a SA is based on communication, mutual respect, and trust. Whether you’re working with a SA from your home store or from another country, the goal is to have a positive and enjoyable shopping experience with the brand.

It’s been my experience that if you want to purchase an item via Hermes, they do not take credit card information over the phone and do not have a way to send a payment link. When I’ve wanted to purchase an online item and have my SA get credit, I’ve had to physically go to the store to present my credit card. My question then is, how does someone establish a purchase history overseas with restrictive payment options?
