Is Luxury Shopping in Dubai More Expensive Than in Europe?

Going to Dubai. Does shopping anything luxury from there make sense or should I wait for my next Europe trip?

Dear Traveler to Dubai and Europe:

Luxury shopping while visiting another country is a fun and enjoyable way to see what the buyers in other countries choose versus your home location. It is believed that Dubai prices tend to be higher than Europe by 20-30% or more depending on the store. Dubai is also more expensive generally than the U.S.

Europe shopping tends to be the lowest when the Euro is low and considering the VAT refund. Some stores (such as Hermès and Celine) are significantly lower while others (such as Chanel and Van Cleef) are not as significant.

Our advice is to shop in Dubai. If you see something that you have not seen anywhere else and absolutely love the item buy it. Otherwise, wait to do most of your shopping in Europe if you already have a trip planned to the EU.

Either way, you are likely to find beautiful items your home location may not have. Anything acquired abroad will always remind you of where you bought the item and bring up fond memories of your travels.
