My Hermès SA of 4 years left the company earlier this year. She was very good to me, offering me multiple quota bags. Even an SO. We even kept in touch after she left. She is unexpectedly back for a few months. I have been shopping with a new SA meanwhile. But I have had 0 offers from the new SA. The relationship is different then the one I had with my old SA.
I’m thrilled that my old SA is back but I’m in a big dilemma: when I visit the store, who do I ask for to help me? What is the wise thing to do for the long term?
Dear Torn Between Two SA’s:
It is always an unfortunate situation when the SA you have an established relationship with leaves the store or company. Having the SA return for a short term only further complicates the situation.
Clearly you have an excellent relationship with your former SA. For this reason, one suggestion is to have an open and honest conversation with them and ask what is the best way to proceed, being honest about your new relationship and how it is different from your relationship with them. Your prior SA will be able to advise you how best to handle the situation.
Unfortunately for the long term prospect they may say it is best to continue with the new SA. They will likely find it best not to interfere with the new relationship as it may complicate the working environment between the two co-workers. Since your former SA is not returning permanently it may not be best to switch for a short period of time.
Your former SA may be able to speak with a manager on the best way to proceed in this situation. Your former SA may be able to help you get an offer of a quota bag by speaking with the manager on your behalf if they are so willing.
Our best advice is to be respectful of all the SA’s involved, be open and honest with both SA’s, and continue your journey. Hopefully a quota bag offer will be forthcoming in the very near future.
