Should I Accept a Hermès Geta Bag if Offered?

Dear PurseBop:

Is it worth accepting the Hermès Geta Bag if offered?

The Hermès Geta bag is a relatively new addition to the Hermès lineup, known for its unique design inspired by traditional Japanese footwear. It has a minimalist yet distinctive look, which sets it apart from the more classic styles like the Kelly or Birkin. The elongated H detail is similar to the Constance H design but with a modern flare. It is being produced in Chevre leather which gives the bag an elevated look. The bag sports a thick adjustable shoulder strap that can be worn on the shoulder or cross body. We have seen it in Nata, Vert Fizz, Mauve Pale, Mauve Sylvestre, Etoupe, Gold, Noir, Bleu Jean and more colors.

Whether the Geta bag is worth taking depends on a few factors:

  • If you appreciate unique, avant-garde designs, the Geta bag could be a valuable addition to your collection. It stands out due to its distinctive shape and architectural lines.
  • While the Kelly and Birkin are known for their strong resale value, the Geta bag is newer and less established in the resale market. It might not have the same immediate resale value, but it could become more desirable over time as it gains popularity.
  • Like many Hermès bags, the Geta is produced in limited quantities. If you’re offered one, it could be an opportunity to acquire a rare piece.

In summary, if the Geta bag aligns with your personal style and you’re open to adding something different to your collection, it could be worth considering. However, if you’re primarily focused on classic, high-resale-value pieces, you might want to wait for a quota bag offer.
